“So, you’ll know more after Monday’s tests?” Marley asked.

I nodded. “Yes, everything else is pretty much on hold as far as developing a treatment plan. Dr. Hottie will meet with me Monday afternoon after she gets the test results.”

“Then you’ll go home?” Luna asked. “Will you need a sitter or assistant for a while?”

“Ha!” Lindy cried out. “We’re planning an adult slumber party. I’m going to stay with her for a few days.”

“You know she could also use one of the flats at the club if she wanted,” Marley suggested. “Luna and I would gladly keep her out of trouble.” She winked to me.

“Where’s the fun in that?” I teased back. “That is a good idea though, if things get hectic at home. I could move in upstairs for a hideout.” I chuckled at the thought.

Grace knocked and then entered the room with my afternoon medications. “How are you feeling?”

“I’m feeling pretty good. The meds you gave me earlier really helped.”

“Mrs. McCardy is on cloud nine, by the way. Flowers, candy, and a cheeseburger all in one day. She deserves a bit of spoiling.”

“Will you please feel free to share ice cream with her if she can tolerate it? My Ice Cream Goddess has assured me she’ll keep the freezer full.” I smiled at Luna.

“Yes, I will ask her if she’d like some. After that burger, it may be awhile before she eats again, but I’ll let her know it’s available,” Grace answered.

“Would it be okay if maybe Lindy and I visited her tomorrow?”

“I don’t see why not. Mrs. McCardy is three doors down from you. I’ll be sure to sneak in a second chair to her room. You’ll be up walking tomorrow.”

“Really?” I asked.

“Yes, ma’am. Dr. Walker ordered evaluations by Occupational and Physical Therapy, so you can bet PT will get you up walking soon.”

“I look forward to that. I can’t stand lying here, and sitting in a wheelchair isn’t much better.”

“Once you feel up to it, we can get you on an exercise bike. I don’t think you’ll be ready for anything else for a few weeks,” Luna said.

“I’m sure a massage at least once a week wouldn’t hurt either,” Marley chimed in.

Grace arched an eyebrow at me. “Damn, that sounds like pretty good rehab to me. Plus, she feeds you Ben and Jerry’s and cheeseburgers. What more could a girl ask for?”

I smiled at Grace. “Trust me. Luna will work every calorie off me once I get released to full activity. She’s a slave driver in the gym.” I sighed. “And Marley, she has the most magical hands that have ever touched my body.”

“Okay, now I’m getting jealous. Is there anything I can get you?”

“Thanks, Grace. I think I’m good for now.”

Luna looked at Marley. “We’ll head out now and let you get some rest. We’ll see you tomorrow, but if you think of anything you want or need, give us a call.”

“Thanks, Luna. You two have been angels. I’ll be okay if you want to skip tomorrow and spend your off day together.
